CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It will be the same great content, with a different familiar name.
Together with the other Rogers Sports & Media news radio stations, 660 NEWS will be renamed CityNews.
This is just a name change, and loyal listeners will continue to receive the same content from 660 NEWS (Calgary), NEWS 1130 (Vancouver), 680 NEWS (Toronto), NEWS 95.7 (Halifax), and 570 NEWS (Kitchener). This includes the latest news, traffic and weather, as well as the same popular local on-air personalities.
The changeover will take place in autumn.
“Bringing our incredible team and all of our resources behind a brand will help make it clear to audiences and advertisers who we are, and it will give us the ability to produce more social and digital media content to suit everyone To better serve the community, ”said Julie Adam, senior vice president, news and entertainment, Rogers Sports & Media.
“News is central to our organization and providing a vital service to Canadians, and we are excited to take this step to solidify our investment in local news. I’m so proud of our news team and grateful for everything they do. “
In December 2020, Rogers announced a similar rebranding of 1310 NEWS in Ottawa to become CityNews Ottawa & The Valley, as two local news websites were merged into one.
“The combination of our award-winning news teams builds on the strength and reputation of channels like 660 NEWS and shows our strong commitment to continue delivering the best news to audiences on every platform and branding to help consumers choose,” said Dave Budge, vice president of news and information for Rogers Sports & Media.
As part of the rebrand, CityNews will launch a centralized website and app where users can find their local news for Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Halifax and Kitchener.
660 NEWS was first launched in 2006.
