Calgary has officially canceled all public events from now through July

All public events in Calgary have been canceled.

Tom Sampson, chief of the Calgary Emergency Management Agency, announced Friday afternoon that all scheduled public events through June 30 have been canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

This includes gatherings of fewer than 15 people – the current maximum of the City of Calgary gatherings.

This also means that permits that existed for parks or facilities have also been canceled.

“[This is] An important step in trying to push the curve down to stop the spread of COVID, “Sampson said at the press conference.

Playgrounds and skate parks in the city will remain closed, as mandated in a previous update, and Calgary Transit will continue to operate with limited service.
