Calgary is getting another drive-in movie experience

If you choose to attend events outside of your home, adhere to COVID-19 health and safety measures, including appropriate physical distancing, wearing masks, and frequent hand washing, as recommended by health officials. If you are sick, please stay home.

There is unfortunately no permanent drive-in theater in Calgary, but luckily, many local venues are working hard to bring that tradition to YYC.

Canyon Meadows Cinemas is the newest place to announce a drive-in movie experience. The first demonstration will take place next month.

Due to the current public health restrictions imposed by the Alberta government, Canyon Meadows Cinemas cannot open their cinemas to regular film screenings. So they got creative and planned to set up car shows in their parking lot.

Canyon Meadows Cinemas, known as Calgary’s “cheap theater,” with $ 5 movies every day of the week, will host two drive-in shows of the Rocky Horror Picture Show on May 8th.

Tickets are $ 35 per vehicle, and the first feature is at 9:20 p.m., with an encore at midnight.

Tickets can be purchased through the Canyon Meadows Cinemas app. Concession items can be pre-ordered online for roadside pickup upon arrival at the event.

The cinema plans to show more shows in drive-in format in the coming season.
