Calgary man charged with 2nd degree murder while shooting over the weekend

CALGARY – A suspect who shot in the Forest Heights community over the weekend reported to the police on Monday and is now charged with second degree murder.

Police were called to the 5200 block of Memorial Drive SE shortly before 10 p.m. on Saturday for reports of a shooting. Officers arrived to find Jesse Shaye Troy George, 30, in a medical emergency.

George was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Investigators say the victim and the perpetrator were known to each other and the shooting was the result of a personal argument.

Calgary-born John Tabler, 41, is now charged with second degree murder. He is due to appear in court on April 13th.

“This remains an active investigation,” said Acting Homicide Staff Sgt. Lee Treit. “We believe a number of people were in attendance at the time of the shooting, and we are still in the process of determining each person’s involvement.”

Investigators want to speak to anyone who has dash cam footage from the Memorial Drive area and 52nd Street SE area between 9:30 PM and 10 PM on Saturday.
