City of Calgary seeking Board, Commission, and Committee vacancies

The City of Calgary just issued an appeal to all citizens who hope to have a fairer say in the running of the city.

A press release from the city states that positions are open in 20 bodies, commissions and committees that should be filled with suitable applicants.

These applicants would need to be at least 18 years old, have a desire to give back to the community, have specific expertise relevant to the specific board, commission or committee they are applying to, support inclusivity and time have available to commit to membership.

The following city-run groups currently have vacancies to be filled:

  • Accessibility Advisory Committee
  • Action Committee Against Racism
  • Examination Board
  • Examination Board
  • Advisory committee for BiodiverCity
  • Calgary Aboriginal Urban Affairs Committee
  • Calgary Airport Authority
  • Calgary Parking Committee
  • Calgary Planning Commission
  • Calgary Police Commission
  • Calgary Technologies Inc. (Calgary platform)
  • Calgary Transit Access Eligibility Appeal Board
  • Citizen Monitoring Board for Public Safety in Calgary Transit
  • Martial Arts Commission
  • Friends of the HMCS Calgary Committee
  • License and Community Standards Appeal Board
  • Saddle foundation
  • Advisory Committee on Social Wellbeing
  • Board of Appeal for Subdivision and Development
  • Urban Design Review Panel

An application is available on the City of Calgary website and must be submitted by Friday, September 11th to be eligible.
