Jimmy Fallon jokes Canadian prisons are basically hotels according to the woman’s 4.5-star rating – Peninsula News Review
It’s not often that Canadian news hits the American media, but when it does, it almost certainly has to do with the “fact” that we’re all so damn nice.
On Thursday evening, Jimmy Fallon was thrilled to tell his viewers about a woman who recently left a handwritten note and a 4.5-star rating from a Langford prison after her stay of several days.
“Remember,” he said, “the Canadian prison is basically just a Courtyard Marriott.”
Flashed on a picture on the cover of a magazine, Fallon joked that the woman’s rave review clearly paid off as Travel and Leisure just added the prison to its annual Top 50 Detainment Hotspots.

West Shore RCMP posted the woman’s handwritten note on Twitter on Jan. 18, stating that they “don’t often get thank you cards from people who stay with them”. In it, the woman wrote that she was nervous about staying in prison and appreciated how helpful and friendly everyone was.
“Thank you for your kindness and care while I was in your care,” she finished with a smiley face.
