Local Laundry sheds light on Calgary’s small business sector during the COVID-19 outbreak – Calgary

As companies continue to close their doors to the public during the COVID-19 outbreak, a clothing company wants to help Calgary’s small business survive the pandemic.

Local Laundry, a Calgary-based clothing company, uses social media to demonstrate how the public can support local businesses.

“We’re big supporters of the local community,” said Dustin Paisley of Local Laundry during an interview with 770 CHQR.

“We tried to play a leadership role in the city of local support. We’re showing how consumers and Calgarians and everyone out there who still wants to support local can do so because we absolutely have to do it at a time like this. “

The company visited its Instagram page on Sunday to highlight local businesses that are still providing delivery and online services in Calgary during the outbreak.

“As a small business, we want to highlight some of the great community builders that offer free shipping or delivery options, online training programs, and more,” the post said.

Paisley hopes such contributions will encourage the Calgarians to continue supporting local businesses that have been forced to shut down or operate differently in recent weeks.

“We want to show everyone that while these times are difficult and our doors are closed in many cases, it is not forever and there are still ways to find out how we can get through this,” said Paisley.

“We’re starting to see these really creative initiatives from companies, and that’s what we’re trying to highlight.”


Calgary businesses are adapting amid the COVID-19 pandemic

Local Laundry also sells a “Healthcare Zip Hoodie”. Paisley said the organization plans to donate all of the proceeds to a special cause.

“100 percent of the profits go to the Calgary Community Response Fund for COVID-19,” he said.
