A man was killed in an apparent work-related accident on a residential construction site in northeast Calgary on Wednesday.
Just before 9 a.m., emergency responders were called to a house on the 0-100 block on Whiteram Way Northeast in Whitehorn Parish to report that a large wall had fallen on someone.

Neighbor Mohamed Elmagar said he heard screams and found the victim trapped under a concrete slab.

“I went outside to see, the concrete (had) already fallen on the guy – pushed him against the side of the wall. We tried to push the concrete but (it was) very difficult – we couldn’t do anything. “
EMS said the man suffered “traumatic injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances of the man’s death remain unclear but are under investigation by labor protection.
