Not every squirrel is born a flying squirrel. But any squirrel can fly if it wants it badly enough.

This was proven in a video Allison sent us at Scenic Acres.

She said a trio of bobcats, possibly teenagers, visited her backyard for three days last week.

“I think they’ve been living around since the fall because I know our neighbors saw them,” Allison said.

On January 30th, they happened to show up at the same time as an unlucky squirrel.

Ordinarily, the Bobcats would be the stars of any social media video, but the squirrel stole the show with his antics.

“There are probably four or five trees,” Allison said. “They climbed the trees one by one and made him jump back and forth between the trees.”

Twice in the video, the squirrel makes a daring leap to escape the predators.

Allison’s children tell the story, with one announcing, “He’s a legend!”

We’re sad to report that the squirrel’s third and final attempt at flight wasn’t captured on film, and that’s probably for the best because it failed to make the landing.

“He missed the branch and landed right on the lap of the two bobcats who were still on the ground and met his fate that day,” said Allison.

She said the third bobcat who drove the squirrel to its fate did not participate in the prey.
