Unwanted items too big to fit in a black container? The Calgary community cleanup offers a solution

CALGARY – The snow on Sunday morning didn’t prevent long vehicles from lining up in three southwest neighborhoods for the first weekend of the city’s annual cleanup program.

Glendale, Rosscarrock, and Southwood residents took the initiative on Sunday morning to accept unwanted items too large to fit in trash or recycling carts.

There is no fee for the program, which will take place in different locations every weekend until the end of June. The city supplies packer trucks and crews as well as personal protective equipment for volunteers in the community.
